    John Bryant, a native of Asheville, NC, is currently a candidate for the Doctor of Musical Arts Degree at the University of South Carolina. John began his study of the trumpet at age 10 and has since studied with Kieg Garvin, Mark Clodfelter, John Rommel, Michael Tunnell, and James Ackley. John holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and a Master of Music degree from the University of Louisville. In 2002, John made his Carnegie Hall solo debut at the age of eighteen. Since then, he has soloed with such groups as the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra , the Keowee Chamber Players, Smokey Mountain Brass Band, the Blue Ridge Civic Orchestra, and the Central Kentucky Concert Band.

    John has performed extensively throughout the United States as well as several performances in Austria, Italy, Ireland, Hungary, and China. In 2008, John won the Naumann Trumpets Award for Artistry and 1st place at the National Trumpet Competition in the Reiche Baroque Solo Division playing a replica 18th century instrument. John regularly performs with Symphony Orchestra Augusta, the Albany Symphony, and Kentucky Baroque Trumpets, a period instrument group. This past Winter, John toured the United States as co-principal of the New Sigmund Romberg Orchestra, as well as touring China as co-principal of the American Hollywood Film Orchestra. Currently, John is on faculty at North Greenville University in Tigerville, SC, The Selah School of Music in Woodstock, GA, and The Atlanta Music Project. John also teaches a private studio of students and is a member of both the International Trumpet Guild and National Association for Music Educators.
