Katrina Roman
DOUBLE BASS
Mrs. Roman earned her bachelors degree in music performance and her masters degree in music education from the University of Georgia. She studied double bass with retired principal bassist Grace Sexton of the Florida West Coast Symphony, principal bassist John Miller of the Sarasota Orchestra, and Melanie Punter’s doctoral student at Florida State University: Craig Wensell of the Tango Sur. She studied for her music education degree under the guidance of Dr. Mary Leglar and Dr. Skip Taylor.
As a sectional double bassist, she has performed with the University of Georgia Symphony Orchestra, the Athens Symphony Orchestra, and the Symphony Orchestra Augusta. As a soloist, she has performed the great works of Bottesini, Vanhal, Koussevitzky, and many others throughout Italy and the southeast United States. On many occasions, Mrs. Roman has been invited as a clinician to many schools throughout northeast Georgia to give master classes on the double bass. As an electric bassist, she has performed with the Chris Walker Band and the Irish punk rock band Black Eyed Susan. Mrs. Roman specializes in genres ranging from Classical, Jazz, Rock, and Folk.
Mrs. Roman is a member of the American String Teachers Association and the National Association for Music Education.
