Welcome to the Atlanta Music Project
The Atlanta Music Project provides intense music education for at-risk children right in their neighborhood. Inspired by Venezuela’s El Sistema, our after-school, youth orchestra and choir programs take place 5-days-a-week for 2 hours each day. The Atlanta Music Project was founded in February 2010, and is a tax-exempt, 501(c)3 organization.
AMP believes the pursuit of musical excellence leads to the development of confidence, creativity and ambition, thus sparking positive social change in the individuals and the communities we serve.
Mission Statement
“To inspire social change by providing Atlanta’s underserved youth the opportunity to learn and perform music in orchestras and choirs.”
How AMP Works

AMP student Kailah Corney and the AMP@GH Orchestra perform at the W Atlanta Midtown at their 2011 Spring Concert.
The AMP program is rigorous with classes taking place five-days-a-week for two hours each day. As we believe all children are musical, we do not hold entrance auditions or require students to have any musical experience. The only thing required for a student to be in AMP: commitment to attending all classes. The Atlanta Music Project provides for each of its students: an instrument, classes, world-class Teaching Artists and performance opportunities. AMP classes include orchestra, choir, musicianship, African drum and dance and group lessons in the following orchestral instruments: violin, viola, cello, bass, flute, clarinet, trumpet and trombone. As AMP expands, we will offer oboe, bassoon, french horn, tuba and orchestral percussion.
