Abreu Fellows

“The first initiative of El Sistema USA is a one-year postgraduate certificate program for accomplished young musicians and music educators who desire to become ambassadors of El Sistema and who are committed to developing the music education miracle outside of Venezuela. Housed at New England Conservatory, Abreu Fellows spend a year studying between Boston and Caracas, and leave with the tools to return to their communities to implement the El Sistema model.”
The inaugural class of Abreu Fellows (which includes AMP’s co-founder and executive director, Dantes Rameau), graduated in June of 2010. The Abreu Fellows Program continues this year with 10 new fellows. In the next three years, 30 additional fellows will graduate, for a total of 50 Abreu Fellows, all part of the El Sistema USA movement.
Since their graduation, the inaugural fellows have embarked on their mission of achieving social change through music by leading the following El Sistema-inspired programs across the United States:
