Lana Teko is a freelance violist and teacher in the metropolitan Atlanta area. She is in demand for adjudication, clinics, workshops, and master classes. An avid chamber musician and enthusiast, Lana coaches chamber music and leads Musicians’ Body Awareness classes at the At First Sight Chamber Music Workshop each summer in Collegedale, TN.

Dr. Teko began playing the violin as a sixth-grader in school orchestra and holds dear the encouragement of Kimbraly Grimes, her first significant teacher-mentor. Her other influential teacher-mentors are Karen Clarke, the late Dr. Michael Allen, Sheryl Lowe, and Dr. Susan Dubois.

Lana taught public school orchestra for four years. She has maintained a private teaching studio and performed with regional symphony orchestras since 1998. She has served as adjunct music faculty at Lee University teaching violin and pedagogy for one year. In addition, serving as interim Viola faculty at Georgia State University during the professor’s maternity leave.

When not teaching camp or performing, Lana is homeschool mom to her two sons. As part of the homeschool community, Lana teaches private and group strings lessons, general music, fine arts, Bible stories through the arts, and elementary book club. In her spare time, Lana enjoys trail walking with her family.
