Tamara “Tammy” Harper was born and raised in the suburbs of Philadelphia, PA and calls Atlanta, GA her home. Tammy is a proud graduate of Spelman College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in music (concentration – piano) and she is a member of Sigma Alpha Iota, international and professional music fraternity for women.
An astonishing classically trained pianist and vocalist for decades, she is also the leader of her band, Tam Tunes and The Gents and keyboardist/vocalist for the all-female reggae fusion band SoulRizing! She is a private piano and voice instructor, minister of music for her church, collaborative pianist and loves teaching music classes to all ages.
In addition, Tammy has donated her time volunteering with the National Black Arts Festival, Atlanta Jazz Festival, Bronze Lens Film Festival, WCLK 91.9FM Pledge Campaigns, and Super Bowl LIII (53) in Atlanta!
Tammy was a featured performer in the Atlanta Jazz Festival - Jazz in the Airport Atrium, Neighborhood Jazz Series, Wednesday Wind Down at Centennial Park, a featured performer at the UNCF Mayor’s Masked Ball and a cameo appearance playing the piano in an episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta. She was also the featured pianist for the grand opening of the Marquee Club at the Fox Theatre. In addition, Tammy participated in a PlayUSA workshop at Carnegie Hall in New York, NY, and donned the big screen in the sequel “Bad Moms Christmas” as the keyboardist in Kenny G’s band!
Her latest accomplishment is that she is a Professional Member of The Recording Academy - made up of musicians, producers, recording engineers, and other musical professionals and famous for its Grammy Awards - and she has been selected to be a mentor in the Grammy U Mentorship Program for 2024-2025 and 2025-2026. Plus, Tammy is excited to be a member of the Atlanta Classic Soulful Symphony!
Most important is that Tammy always makes time for her top priority - her pride and joy and super talented dancer - her teenage daughter, Gabrielle!
