Last fall the Atlanta Music Project was fortunate to be awarded Bank of America’s prestigious 2016 Neighborhood Builders Award, alongside the Center for Working Families. The award, given to just two Atlanta non-profits each year, comes with $200,000 of unrestricted funding and leadership training for senior staff. AMP is the only arts non-profit in the Atlanta market to win the award since 2004.

On Wednesday October 18, 2017, the Bank of America Charitable Foundation announced the two winners of the 2017 Neighborhood Builders Award at the National Center for Civil and Human Rights in Downtown Atlanta. To close out the award ceremony, a string quartet of AMP’s young artists performed the Rondo from String Quartet No. 1 in G Major by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. They received a rousing standing ovation from the crowd of 100-plus attendees.

The string quartet was composed of the following veteran AMP young artists: Donovan Fuller (violin, 8th year), Lailah Carter (violin, 6th year), Nyasjah Brooks (viola, 8th year), Danielle Liburd (cello, 6th year). Fuller and Liburd are finalists for the 2018 Georgia Music Educators All-State Orchestra.
