About AMP Youth Orchestras:

The AMP Youth Orchestras are the most advanced instrumental ensembles at AMP and are designed for young musicians in middle and high school who are already experienced performers.

Performing both standard symphonic music and musical genres representing the culture of the communities we serve, it is our goal for the AMP Youth Orchestras to become one of the top youth training orchestra programs in the country.

The AMP Youth Orchestras consist of two ensembles: the Junior Youth Orchestra and the Senior Youth Orchestra.

Both ensembles include: violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon, trumpet, trombone, french horn, tuba, orchestral percussion.

Junior Youth Orchestra level is intermediate/advanced, performing music from Level 2 – Level 4.

Senior Youth Orchestra level is advanced, performing full symphonic works and music from Level 4 – Level 6.

Rehearsal Schedule:

All AMP Youth Orchestra students attend two (2) rehearsals per week:

AMP Junior Youth Orchestra:

Instruments:
All symphony orchestra instruments: violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, French horn, trumpet, trombone, bass trombone, tuba, orchestral percussion.

Age: primarily middle school, with some intermediate high school students

Level: intermediate/advanced (performing music Level 2 to Level 4)

Tuesday 6:30pm – 8:00pm

Saturday 2:00pm – 4:00pm

Advanced 7th – 8th graders who are comfortable performing full symphonic works (music Levels 4 to 6) may audition for the Senior Youth Orchestra using the SYO audition requirements. 

Instruments:
All symphony orchestra instruments: violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, French horn, trumpet, trombone, bass trombone, tuba, orchestral percussion.

Age: primarily grades 9-12, with some advanced middle school students

Level: advanced (performing full symphonic works, and music Level 4 to Level 6)

Thursday 6:30pm – 8:30pm

Saturday 11:30am – 1:30pm

High School students who are not comfortable with the Senior Orchestra audition materials may audition for the Junior Youth Orchestra using the JYO Audition Excerpts and scales. High School students who are not placed in the Senior Orchestra may be offered the opportunity to perform with the Junior Youth Orchestra.
