Harlem Fine Arts Show honors Atlanta music education program
ATLANTA, GA (June 24, 2014) – The Atlanta Music Project will receive the 2014 Harlem Fine Arts Show Arts and Education Award – which honors an educational program for providing its local community with access and understanding of fine arts and African-American culture — during the event’s upcoming June 26-29 stop in Atlanta.
The Atlanta Music Project will accept the award at the show’s June 26 opening night reception, in the Grand Atrium of the elegant 200 Peachtree Street venue.
“The Arts and Education Award recognizes programs that give the underserved community a chance to embrace the significance of art,” explains Dion Clarke, founder of the Harlem Fine Arts Show. “The Atlanta Music Project has done just that; they’ve provided Atlanta’s youth with the opportunity to thrive musically and creatively.”
Founded in 2010, the Atlanta Music Project provides music education for youth in their own neighborhoods, offering each student necessary instruments, classes, and performance opportunities.
Held annually in New York City since 2010 — and most recently in February of this year — the Harlem Fine Arts Show has attracted about 50,000 visitors and accounted for millions of dollars in total art sales since its inception. Many of those sales are in the $100 to $500 range, and the show attracts seasoned and novice collectors, galleries, private dealers, and artist studios pursuing the direct-to-consumer market..
BMW is the lead sponsor for the Harlem Fine Arts show during 2014 — which in addition to New York and Atlanta will also include stops in Martha’s Vineyard (8/6−13) and Chicago (10/30−11/2). Other sponsors include the AARP, Radio One, the High Museum of Art, andBombay Sapphire.
