To celebrate the life of their late son Nick Wadley, Steve and Jill Wadley recently launched the 1st Annual Nicholas Evan Wadley Charity Golf Invitational. The tournament was held on October 26, 2013 at Bear’s Best Atlanta Golf Course, with the Atlanta Music Project as the charitable recipient. The tournament was an outstanding success, raising $15,000 for AMP!
The tournament celebrated the life of a great man, Nick Wadley. Nick was an outstanding musician, with the guitar being his main instrument. Friends of Nick at the tournament told me that Nick’s abilities as a musician were more than artistic – his playing held their group of friends together. Another friend of Nick’s explained to me that she even started playing the guitar because she was so inspired by his musicianship.
The day of the tournament was filled with fun. Friends of the Wadley family were in attendance, many of whom went to college with Nick. The tournament was played as a 4 man best ball tournament with handicaps in play, making it easy for all skill levels to come out and compete. Lunch and beverages were served on the course along with many other fun activities throughout the day.
Aisha Bowden, our Director of AMPlify and I, had the chance to spend some time on the golf course meeting the tournament participants. Everybody was in great spirits. They spoke lovingly of their times with Nick and were interested to learn more about the Atlanta Music Project. What an honor it was to be a small part of this great day.
Steve and Jill Wadley found out about the Atlanta Music Project through an article in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and have been involved with the organization ever since. From raising money (Steve’s company ClickMedia was the golf tournament’s Lead Sponsor) to advising on marketing to volunteering at concerts, the Wadleys have been a great addition to the AMP family. We are fortunate that Steve Wadley recently joined the Atlanta Music Project Board of Directors.
